Based on experience, narrative, and a belief that thoughtful design can help people live life to its fullest, they strive to design spaces that inspire that way of life. With a focus on collaboration, research and responsibility, the studio looks ahead with respect for the past.

Using traditional building methods for construction and furniture, they dig deep into archives and support historical preservation initiatives. Investing in quality and collecting vintage is important to them.
In terms of the studio’s impact on the world, it is conscious. Their goal is to source only natural, nontoxic materials and avoid synthetic ones whenever possible in order to reduce indoor air pollution. A healthy, wholesome life is at the core of their design philosophy, and they support local artisans and earth-friendly businesses.
Studio Shamshiri was founded in 2016 by Pamela and Ramin Shamshiri. Their body of work completed from 2004 to 2015 earned them the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Award, where they were part of the four founding partners of Commune. In addition to residential, commercial, and hospitality projects domestically and internationally, Studio Shamshiri offers expertise in production, art direction, and set design.
There are a number of projects in the studio’s portfolio that include restorations of iconic buildings by A Quincy Jones, Stanford White, Nigel Coates, Rudolph Schindler, Myron Hunt, Buff & Hensman, and Andrew Geller, as well as ground-up projects with notable contemporary architects such as Marmol Radziner and Johnston Marklee. In 2017, the Shamshiri team acquired and restored the 1920s Hollywood landmark Thomson Building to house the Los Angeles studio.
